I think that's why brokenness is so intimidating to us. You really don't have anything together and yet have to be open about it to God and loved ones you can trust. I guess this explains that there's only one Superman, yet even he has his share of problems (take Smallville in its 8th season of drama now and how in the comics, movies, and cartoons Clark tries so hard to get Lois' attention) Nevertheless, he does everything in his power to do the right thing and to be selfless for the people he loves as well as the people he doesn't.
This could be one reason why superheroes have so much appeal. They strive for something bigger than themselves, using their gifts to help others rather than to own glory, even when they aren't 100% sure if they'll survive the battle before them. Come to think of it, we're all kinda like superheroes w/ God as our source of strength and guidance.
The world is our Metropolis (or Gotham City for all us Batman fans!). We can point the way to the answer in this crazy life : build up and look out for one another so we can face the ultimate Dr. Doom (Satan). One day, we'll be happy together in Heaven, where there is no crime, no tears, no injustice, no unnecessary slaughter, no chaos, no screams of pain, no certain flashy-dressed psychopath clown ready to destroy the entire town, the list goes on.
Who says we need a cape and tights to take on the greatest mission ever? (well, I guess you could if you REALLY wanted to but I'd be a little worried)
Use what God has given you for the good of others and to glorify God, so then in turn others will glorify Him. Wow, I just typed a whole devotion for you! My mind must have gone straight to the keyboard. Well, I hoped you enjoyed it though. Have a blessed week!
- That classy stinker (Or from superhero to superhero as Jester Fair *^.~*)

P.S. Here's some quotes about heroes:

A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer.--Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nurture your minds with great thoughts. To believe in the heroic makes heroes.--Benjamin Disraeli

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.--Arthur Ashe

The prudent see only the difficulties, the bold only the advantages, of a great enterprise; the hero sees both; diminishes the former and makes the latter preponderate, and so conquers.--
Johann K. For those of you who aren't familiar w/ Psalms, it is a book in the Bible consisting of 150 poetic-like writings, most known to be written by King David. These deeply emotional pieces filled w/ lament, praise, trust, thanksgiving, wisdom dedicated to God have encouraged countless people for centuries.
Diverse as the writings can be, every single one of them ends in a hopeful tone that the Lord will never fail in His lovingkindness and care. Our Lord is the same to this day and for all eternity!
Here is my Psalm:

My sweetest Lord,
The darkness overwhelms me.
I search for a door but find walls and empty space.
I am worn and have no faith in overcoming my situation.
To my knees I fall, "Lord are you there?!" I cry.
A hand from behind touches my shoulder.
I turn around.
A candle glows filling my eyes and heart with its warmth.
I melt inside when I see your smiling face shining brighter than the candle you carry.
Looking into my clouded eyes you say, "May I lead now?"You take the hand I reach out and we begin to walk.
As you lift the candle ahead of us, I lose my breath.
The door I had searched for was near me all along.

Thanx for reading!

103 Things You May Not Know About Me

A mentor of mine was challenged to make this list, then challenged me. I thought I had the hang of life and I knew all that I needed to know. I mean, someone who regularly reads psychology writings and trivia and is a natural @ being themself, would have it together, right? New situations from today's events made me realize now that I was quite wrong. I am actually ignorant @ many things. I couldn't even tell you what the hottest TV shows and movies(let alone the plots) are or WWII's important dates/events. The only country I've been to out of the US is Canada. What right do I have to think I've got it all together? Someone in India could have the art of being a loving human being more than a handful of people could ever have!
But a new concept comes to mind: Isn't my lack of knowledge also my fiery passion for learning and discovering all the possibilities that life could have? Or why I can have a wide variety of conversations w/ different people and leave feeling a little smarter. Why my curiosity is so child-like? That God is omniscient where I am not, therefore, His glory can shine through me all the more(isn't that's what it's all about?)?
Every personality trait will always have its disadvantages, does that mean it overpowers the advantages as well? As it says in Romans, may it never be! It is better to have excitment for what's out there for you to discover rather than be upset over any knowledge you lack. Have gratitude for what you know now, God will take care of the rest of what you need to know.
Stop looking @ the window and walk outside! It's a big world out there full of people, places and things ready to give and take lessons, and it's all waiting for you.

I'll be there

Hi!

Sorry it's been a while, but here's a writing of mine from this past New Year's! Enjoy!

Hey guys, I hope you are enjoying this time of new beginnings. To be honest, it hasn't felt like a great start on my end due to several big changes in my life along w/ some growing pains. Today on the radio, a Jackson 5 (my secret guilty music pleasures:) song came on called "I'll be There." I've always liked that song but today I really listened to the words and it made me feel more @ peace. It seems appropriate for the New Year as well, so I send you the lyrics along w/ what it means to me in the parentheses. Enjoy!

You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back (Make a decision to pursue our Savior more this year)

Where there is love, I'll be there (God is love)

I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do, Just call my name and I'll be there (He believes in us even when we don't)

I'll be there to comfort you, Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you I'll be there with a love that's strong, I'll be your strength, I'll keep holding on (He has indescribable plans and unfailing love for you, His greatest treasure)

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter (Yes, He is the true source of happiness and wants it for you!)

Togetherness, well that's all I'm after (He wants to stick closer than a brother to you and hopes you feels the same way)

Whenever you need me, I'll be there (yep, 24-7!)

I'll be there to protect you, with an unselfish love that respects you, Just call my name and I'll be there (He wants others to see His glory in you and to love them the way He does)

If you should ever find someone new, I know he'd better be good to you cause if he doesn't, I'll be there (That "special someone" He puts in our life may not be perfect, but God still is)

Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah (Have you forgotten?)

I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there[just look over your shoulders, honey - oo] (He's right beside us, always has, always will)

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts! I pray all the best to be in store for each and everyone of you this year!
With Love,

P.S. As if I don't have enough journals already, be it prayer journal, audition journal, memory moment journal, adventure journal, mix'n'match fashion journal, not to mention the "Eureka!" whims and doodle journal that never end up written all in place. I really don't write as much as I sound, but somehow I do find myself drawing, making a list, or some random idea. A pen (or pencil when in a drawing mood) and a notebook are always in my bag, sometimes even two notebooks!
I know this is just one of many blogs, but I do appreciate you taking the time to read mine and hearing my thoughts. It is my prayer that whenever you see an entry of mine, you will leave feeling encouraged and inspired, but that is entirely up to God to choose what will touch you, since I'm only a humble servant of the Lord who deeply cares for us, and has wonderful plans for you and I.
I'll write again soon, farewell!
